Intervention in Battering (IIB)
HAVEN's batterers program was the first in Michigan. It currently meets the Governors standards for batters intervention programs. All groups can be completed in a minimum of 40 sessions. All groups are co-facilitated by Master's level therapists who receive extensive training in the area of domestic violence.

This program confronts the issue of domestic violence by holding those who use abusive tactics accountable for their behavior. Groups provide these individuals with an opportunity to identify their pattern of abusive behavior and the impact their abuse has had on their partner and children as well as the losses they experience as a result of utilizing these tactics. They can begin to identify and change the beliefs associated with abuse and develop non-abusive ways of coping as well as develop a plan to remain violence free.

Another facet of the Intervention In Battering program is Taking Responsibility For Yourself (TRY). This group addresses the dual issues of substance abuse and domestic violence by offering members an opportunity to work on their behavior while identifying the common issues associated with both substance abuse and domestic violence as well as developing a relapse prevention plan.

The Intervention In Battering program also provides screenings/assessments for abuse in interpersonal relationships. Comprehensive reports and recommendations can be provided to referral sources, assisting them with clarification between abuser and victim and/or clarification of retaliatory violence, mutually abusive couples or one-time incidents.

Clients are assessed group fees based on their income. Fees for DV screenings are a flat rate.
