PAH!
Partners Advocating for Healing!
PAH!: Partners Advocating for Healing! is 3 agencies working together to provide services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our name comes from the ASL sign “PAH,” meaning success, finally or achievement. We felt it was important to name our group PAH! to show that we are building a bridge between the Deaf and hearing worlds. Our goal is to stop domestic and sexual violence.
PAH! was established in October 2008. It includes 3 community programs from Oakland County working together — HAVEN, DEAF C.A.N.! and the Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services (DWAS).
PAH! is the first and only partnership in Southeast Michigan to have the Deaf and Hearing working together side by side. Each partner agency is committed to learning from each other. Together, we plan, evaluate, develop and start services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
If you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and would like to be involved with DWAS, please email DEAF C.A.N.! at marcy.colton@deafcan.org.
