You, too, can make a difference.

"I’m so happy I could help make a difference in this world and give a little help to others in the process." - HAVEN volunteer

You, too, can make a difference. In fact, HAVEN needs your help!

Volunteers are the cornerstone of our programs. They work directly with clients to bring about real change in their lives. But sometimes, it's the volunteers who walk away from the experience the most changed.

HAVEN needs volunteers to assist in all our programs, but right now we most urgently need help in:

  • Social Action: Be there right away. You'll carry a pager so you can respond immediately after someone has been in a domestic violence or sexual assault incident. You'll be the one they turn to as an advocate and supporter.
  • Crisis and Support Line: Be there when someone reaches out for help. You'll answer our 24-hour hotline to provide support and information for survivors, their families and the community.
  • Male Mentors: Be a role model. You'll work with the children staying in our shelter. Many of them don't have any men to look up to - let them look up to you.

Join the HAVEN family. For information on how you can make a difference, contact Belle Kleinberg at bkleinberg@haven-oakland.org or 248.334.1284 x659.
