Daily Living Specialist
PROGRAM: Residential - Shelter
Join HAVEN's team of professionals whose mission is to eliminate sexual asault and domestic violence and to empower survivors through advocacy and social change in and around Oakland County, Michigan.
Two years of college courses or equivalent experience with domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse; Knowledge of nutrition and daily living skills; Ability to lift and carry approximately 40 pounds and carry objects up and down stairs; Ability to work a flexible schedule is required including evenings, weekends and holidays; Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license; Enjoy working with food and food safe handling certificate helpful; Ability to demonstrate a sincere, caring and non-judgmental attitude towards others; Bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Primary responsibilities include: Manage kitchen and assist residents as needed at our shelter; Facilitate daily house meetings; Purchase and maintain inventory of food and other supplies; Incorporate garden produce with meal preparation; Prepare meals minimum of 3 days/week; Provide crisis intervention with residents and on telephone hotline: Conduct intake interviews with potential clients and assess for appropriate placement or referral; Maintain building security; Clerical duties including data entry and general log entries; Light to heavy housekeeping; Pitch in and respond to the needs of a 24/7 communal living environment.
40 Hrs/wk, Mon-Thurs: 11am–7pm, Fri: 1pm-9pm
