Residential Care Specialist


Join HAVEN’s team of professionals whose mission is to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault through treatment and prevention services across Oakland County, Michigan and surrounding communities.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Residential Services Director, the Residential Care Specialist will be responsible for front desk coverage, fulfilling clerical duties including answering the phone, data entry, reporting, documentation, file maintenance and excellent customer service to the residential guests. The Residential Care Specialist will help to ensure safety of facilities and residential guests. The Residential Care Specialist will provide crisis intervention support when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
College course work in Human Service area required; Bachelor degree preferred. Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault. Customer service experience required. Must work well under pressure and in stressful situations. Must be comfortable working in a setting where exposure to the pain and suffering of others is constant. Must be able to motivate, educate and empower victims of domestic violence and/ or sexual assault who are from diverse backgrounds and who face additional barriers such as PTSD, substance abuse, poverty, mental illness, unemployment and physical disabilities. Ability to perform a wide variety of responsibilities including assistance to residential guests, report preparation, safety assessment and cleaning. Computer proficiency in Office applications. Ability to work a flexible schedule is required including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Valid Michigan Driver’s license required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include monitoring of HAVEN shelter to ensure safety. Providing customer service to residential shelter guests including intakes, orientation, and basic supply fulfillment. Clerical work including data entry and documentation of guest interaction. Providing conflict resolution and crisis intervention as needed. Cleaning, organizing shelter common areas.

HOURS: Full-time, afternoon shift, every weekend

Hourly pay and overtime eligibility
