Position Summary:

Residential Crisis Line and Support Specialist is responsible for the shelter front desk coverage, answering Crisis and Support Line calls, fulfilling clerical duties, data entry, reporting, documentation, file maintenance and excellent customer service to the residential clients. The Residential Crisis Line and Support Specialist will interact with shelter residents to provide support, assess primary needs, provide resources, and help to ensure the safety of the residential clients and the shelter facility. There are two full-time positions open (see below for details)

Position Qualifications:

  • Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations
  • Skilled in active listening and crisis intervention
  • Demonstrate trauma informed approaches to service delivery
  • Ability to educate and empower victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault who are from diverse backgrounds and who may face multiple barriers
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in crisis intervention
  • Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field
  • Customer service experience
  • Prior work with individuals who have experienced trauma

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the shelter

Responsibilities:

  • Provide internal and community resources to callers and shelter clients
  • Conduct shelter assessments for callers seeking shelter
  • Answers the Crisis and Support Line
  • Respond to online chats
  • Assist with agency wide walk ins
  • Maintain and update resource materials
  • Monitors the HAVEN residential shelter and grounds to maintain security via hourly walk-throughs and camera monitoring
  • Provides assistance with residential intakes as needed, facilitates residential discharges
  • Complete clerical duties
  • Posts calendar of weekly activities and updates communication boards
  • Provides critical incident intervention including, but not limited to, client de-escalation, conflict resolution, evacuation for fire alarm
  • Help train and orient residential volunteers and interns as well as providing ongoing support and mentoring.
  • Maintains detailed, accurate records necessary for program and case files
  • Interact and build rapport with residential clients which includes providing educational information on domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Cleans all areas of the shelter ensuring all rooms are appropriate for client services
  • Ensure compliance for inspectors

Job Type: (1) Full-Time Postions Available:  THIRD SHIFT - Sunday - Thursday 10pm - 6am
Pay: $16.25 - $17.00 per hour
