Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Therapist (Full Time)

To empower survivors to heal, and engage all individuals and communities to address and prevent sexual assault and intimate partner violence

Position Summary:
The Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) /Sexual Assault Therapist is a valuable member of the Counseling Program. The therapist support HAVEN’S mission by providing trauma-informed counseling services to children and adults through face-to-face, telephone, and virtual appointments. They are responsible for providing a broad range of counseling services, facilitations, and training for interns and volunteer counselors. 

Essential Duties:

  • Assesses individual counseling needs (intakes) of adult and child Counseling Program clients; provides counseling services for both intimate partner violence and sexual assault/abuse populations
  • Coordinates, develops, and facilitates support, educational, and accountability groups as assigned by Counseling Program Director
  • Documents safety planning with all victims     
  • Assists with the development, distribution and collection of outcome evaluation tools
  • Maintains and tracks open and closed client records, facilitates data entry, and maintains co-worker communication in order to maintain compliance and smooth agency operation. 
  • Assists in training and evaluation of student interns and volunteers as assigned by Counseling Program Director
  • Assists with conducting focus groups to obtain client input into programming
  • Presents specialty group overviews to referral sources, including shelter, as assigned
  • Processes “walk ins” or “high risk” clients immediately
  • Responds to client calls within 48 hours during the work week
  • Responds to subpoenas when required
  • Works with development and community education teams to promote programming; Contributes to written curriculum updates as needed. 
  • Stays up to date on community resources relevant populations served
  • Assists in the planning and delivery of program services to adult & child Counseling Program clients   
  • Participates in IPV/SA month activities
  • Completes monthly reports
  • Assures accurate tracking of open and closed client files
  • Maintains client paperwork/files; completes program forms to include all intake paperwork
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Excellent oral, written, active listening and organization skills 
  • Willingness to work evenings 2-3 days/week

Education and Experience:

  • LLMSW, LMSW in Social Work or LLPC, LPC in Counseling. 
  • Education or experience with adult, teen and child victims of intimate partner violence, sexual assault/abuse and child witness of intimate partner violence.  
  • Experience and ability to work effectively with people from diverse racial, economic, and cultural backgrounds. 
  • Must be able to maintain professional boundaries and comply with all agency policies and procedures. 
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word.  
  • CPT, CBT, Somatic experience, CCTP
  • Knowledge and experience with supporting and providing therapy to IPV/SA survivors
